Peg Loom Wool Seat Pad
Peg Loom Wool Seat Pad
A lovely woolly seat pad made from sheep's fleece
Hand woven on a peg loom using fleece grown by local Holme Valley sheep. The white is rare breed Derbyshire Gritstone and the contrasting dark brown is Zwartbles, a Dutch breed.
Approx. 17in x 14in
A peg loom is a tool for weaving textiles by hand onto a strung warp, and its use goes back as far as Viking times. Natural jute twine is used as the warp (the up and down bit) and then sheep fleece for the weft (the side to side bit).
The pad can be washed by soaking in soapy water and then rinsing, repeating if necessary. Please note that sheep are farm animals and live outside, and even though care has been taken to remove as much as possible, there is likely to be some small bits of vegetation embedded within the fleece.
