Commissions

If you have a special fleece, or just fancy something made from your own sheep's wool, we can help - We now take peg loom weaving commissions!

Hand woven rugs:

Rugs are woven with a maximum width of approximately 3ft, and the length can vary depending on what you’d like. A smaller rug around 3ft × 2ft starts at £95, with additional length added at £40 per extra foot.

Seat pads:

They can be made to a size to suit your requirements. Our standard size is roughly 1ft by 1ft and prices start at £30 for one piece.

Cushions:

Again, they can be made to a size to suit your requirements. Our standard size is roughly 14in square and prices start at £80 for one cushion.

The process:

Firstly, get in touch to discuss your request and we can work together to determine what would be possible and how much the end product will cost.

We will then need your fleece! You can either drop your fleeces off with us or ship them directly to us. It's always better to send us more than less and we can then use only the best bits in your final product. As a rough guide a 3ft by 2ft rug is about 1.5 fleeces, however it all depends on how big they are.

We ask you to skirt and pick through the fleece first to remove as much vegetation and muck as possible before sending it over. (Tip: If you wouldn't want it in your final piece then pull it out or throw it away.) The fleece also needs to be relatively open rather than heavily felted/matted as it needs to be pulled apart during the weaving process. If you're not sure on suitability then don't worry, we're happy to advise from photos or videos if you weren't sure.

On receiving your fleece we will assess them and confirm suitability with you. This is when your payment is required. We will then wash, dry and prepare the wool before weaving the rug by hand. Depending on size it might be 2-3 months before your commission is completed, but when it’s finished we will then post it back to you, or arrange collection, depending on what you have requested.
